Checker Taxi has built our entire business model around providing affordable and caring accessible transportation to people who may require it. Pioneers in accessible transportation in Toronto since the early 1990’s, we were the first to offer an on-demand accessible taxi service for the public in the City of Toronto. Today Checker Taxi has over 90 Vehicles and is the only taxi brokerage in the City of Toronto whose entire fleet consists of fully accessible Toronto taxi plated vehicles. Annually we service over 200,000 trips in Toronto and see roughly see 10% increase in demand year after year.

Our history, experience and expertise in the industry attracted clients such as, the Toronto Transit Commission – Wheel Trans division,  Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Board, Workers Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), McCluskey Transportation, the City of Toronto’s Long Term Care and Services Division, as well as numerous hospitals, nursing homes and insurance companies.

Our knowledge in the field regarding safety, rider experience, vehicle

requirements, driver training and sensitivity has given us the privilege

to be accredited by the City of Toronto to train drivers with an

Accessible Endorsement on their city issued Vehicle for Hire (Taxi)

Licence.

Our passion for providing the highest level of accessible transportation

has caught the attention of the International Association of Taxi

Regulators(IATR), they awarded the president of the brokerage Alex

Matrosov with a Lifetime Achievement and Humanitarian Award in 2011.
