Checker Taxi has been a leader in accessible transportation in Toronto since the early 1990s, pioneering the city’s first on-demand accessible taxi service. Today, our fleet consists exclusively of fully accessible, Toronto taxi-plated vehicles, with over 90 vehicles serving more than 200,000 trips annually.

Our expertise has earned the trust of major clients, including the Toronto Transit Commission’s Wheel-Trans division, both Toronto District School Board and Catholic District School Board, the Workers Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), McCluskey Transportation, the City of Toronto’s Long Term Care and Services Division, as well as numerous hospitals, nursing homes, and insurance companies.

Checker Taxi is accredited by the City of Toronto to provide driver

training for the Accessible Endorsement on city-issued taxi licenses,

reflecting our commitment to safety, rider experience, and high

standards in vehicle and driver requirements.

Our dedication to accessible transportation has been recognized

internationally; in 2011, the International Association of Taxi Regulators

honored our president, Alex Matrosov, with a Lifetime Achievement

and Humanitarian Award.
